# JEOL 63/6400 SEM ><[[Electron Microscope MOC]] ## Background - The 6300 and 6400 are almost identical, the layout of the column relative to the console being the biggest difference. - The column is the same as the [[JEOL 840]] - The control system is very similar to the [[JEOL 840]] - The main addition is the [[Frame Image Store]] - Command, control, and digital readout of the electron optics, detectors, and high voltage systems is carried out over and 8 bit address and data bus (the ribbon cable that goes between all of the cards in the card rack) - The vacuum PB on the front of the column runs independently of the rest of the control system. - We have built hardware that enables the vacuum system to stand on its own completely separately from the existing control console and power supply.
