Refilling oil on the JEOL 6400 rotary pump system
==!BEFORE PREFORMING OIL REFILL PROCEDURE!==
- Preform an oil exchange on the Rotary Pump: Once a year
- Exchange the Oil Mist Trap (if used): Once a year
- Change shaft seal
DO NOT let oil level of the oil Rotary Pump fall below the lower limit on the Oil level indicator.
DO NOT remove the rubber hose from the oil rotary pump during operation. If the hose is removed the oil in the oil diffusion pump will flow back into the microscope column, causing damage.
==TOOL LIST:==
- Oil resistant gloves
- Eye protection
- Mineral oil with vitamin C
- LDS 19U available from LDS vacuum
- small, oil resistant funnel
==Oil Refill procedure:==
1. Check oil level indicator located on the side of the Oil Rotary pump
2. If the oil is below the lower limit of the oil level "o" mark indicator, prepare to add more oil
3. To start, remove the cap from the oil filler port on the top side of the pump by turning it counter clockwise
4. Place funnel into oil filler port
5. Continuously watch oil level indicator
6. Slowly pour oil into funnel until the oil level rises to the upper limit of the "o" mark indicator then stop.
7. Screw cap onto the oil filler port clockwise until tight.
==-OIL LEVEL DURING PUMP OPPERATION-==
- When the pump is being operated after oil exchange, oil level on the indicator will fall.
- If the oil level falls below the lower limit when operated, begin procedure again adding more oil until level.
