[[BATH-O-CARD]]
## Principle
[[Detergent and stripper ingredients]]
![[Screen Shot 2022-02-13 at 7.02.13 PM.jpg]]
## Method
==Applications:== non-porous materials, simple shapes that can be rinsed and dried
==Limitations:== difficult to eliminate silicones since they float on the bath surface; surface oxides and some alloys can be etched by the basic solution
### Steps
1. Water and detergent bath
- pH is basic (9.6 for CERN)
2. Heated [[Ultrasonic Agitation]]
3. Rinsing with DI or tap water
- first effective control -> verification of surface wetting by the rinsing water
4. Rinsing in DI water bath
5. Drying in oven or dry nitrogen
### Parameters
Cleaning time is a function of:
- contamination amount
- part shape
- brittleness
- surface roughness
- vessel size
Bath quality must be monitored (often filtered and recycled)
- Conductivity
- pH
- Detergent concentration
